Future developers should consider slimming the design down as much as possible. Removing excess bulk from the battery tray or the lever mechanism will further encourage manufacturers to implement the design into their products. This is due to the excess cost of this design over another being lessened. Additionally further development should focus on incorporating more metal components into the design. This would drastically increase the strength and longevity of the design enhancing its safety aspects.

Other developments should focus on incorporating the lever mechanism for different button battery container types. Not every device uses a tray to contain button batteries, some devices use compartments or other styles. Developing a pop-out mechanism for the other styles will allow the safety brought by it to reach further throughout the market. Additionally, some button battery compartments contain multiple smaller button batteries. These are less dangerous than the 20mm batteries the current design focuses on, but incorporating the mechanism in a way that keeps containers with multiple batteries safe from children will even further broaden the designs effectiveness.
